Come visit and share in our community's history from lumbering, farming, schools, churches and our history of the Allagash and St. John Rivers.    Allagash Historical Society Museum, a non profit organization is now a very important entity,  sharing  our past  and looking to the future.  Our  president, Marilyn McBreairty,  has been chair for a number of years  and is commended for her attention to detail and a job very well done.   We will post new developments as they are presented to the board members and approved.   Work has already started on the barn, which is in dire need of repair.     Work on grants is an on going process that our president keeps an eye on and with any monies that come in, we will get the barn done.     We have many good projects in line for next summer; watch for our posts here and facebook.

CHRISTMAS IN ALLAGASH                               The Early Years

Allagash Historical Society was founded in 1975, and it's first President was Edith Kelley.     Ms. Kelley spent many hours getting the museum moving forward, getting a group  of officers, directors and members  to sign on.  Some of those officers remained until very recently,  With the publication of this book, CHRISTMAS IN ALLAGASH  The Early Years,  the Society has flourished  and is now what we have today.  (Photos above)   We  now have a new building, completely furnished,  public toilet and will very soon have heat and a small working kitchen.   It is a delight to all of us that had a hand in getting this done, and also to those who have visited and yet to visit.   We have had visitors from the Smithsonian Institute, Washington D. C. visit and sign our guest book.   We will continue our efforts as we are now doing with the continued sales of Christmas in Allagash.    Our board members are:   President:    Marilyn McBreairty, Vice President, Allen Jackson,  Treasurer,  Linda McBreairty, Secretary, Colleen McBreairty and a seven member board of directors.
